If you own an E36 328i, M3, or E39 528i with a manual transmission you have a ZF320Z. This transmission has been known to be more robust than the Getrag counterpart in the 325i and 318i models. But everything isn't perfect in life and the ZF transmission started to develop a couple issues over the years, so much that BMW actually put out two service bulletins for the dealerships to perform.
The issues that were found were some transmission were hard get into gear or they developed the famous 5th gear lean. This is where the stick shift in neutral would lean towards 5th gear and not auto center. Although this did not prevent you from driving it, it sure did cut down on the driving experience. This is after all, the ultimate driving machine correct?
